tutorial how to make clay by beatus-vir tutorial how to make clay by beatus-vir

tutorial how to make cold porcelain clay, or as they call it here explain step by step how to make the dough and give it color and as I make this question many times I just want to say that hard to get just the left to air dry.

problems and solutions:

Goo:
· It may be due to lack of cooking. a way to fix it is to open
the middle one and put it on and heat the pan to dry slightly.
Gummy mass color:
· Since it has been broken, should be discarded.
Stubbornly sticky mass:
• If despite having warmed in the pan, this does not improve, let
uncovered and knead 10 to 20 minutes until you feel it harder to
This is dehydrated.
Cracked part:
· Wait to dry and fill the cracks with fresh dough and the
smooths wet finger.
Broken piece:
• If by some accident your piece breaks or cracks, note
worry, Resana your stuff with glue and fresh mass, fading
warm water and wet your finger.
Mixing Techniques:
· It destroys the ball da dough with fingertips in the form of
strongly kneading to mix well.
· To return to the ball of dough is kneaded with the outside of
the palms of the hands (hard) hard. should be treated the ball is
uniform and without slots, amassing almost flat and when you feel
is firmly packed go of pressure to amass in the form of caress
and that the ball is round and perfect.

I'm going to make overhead mask and I'm looking for some cheap ways to do it, probably I'll make a base from paper mache and then add details with some kind of clay, possibly cover it whole to make a smooth surface. So I have few questions:
- Does the clay it shrink/crack a lot when it dries off? It is fixable by covering cracks another portion of clay?
- Have you tried to cover bigger surface with it? how's the result?
- In recipes I keep seeing "white glue", would this one be good for it? xD www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0… you might not have an idea but it don't hurt to ask
- is it light or quite heavy?

Sorry for the questions ^^' have a nice day!

hi!

and yes it will crack and shrinj and yes u can cover  the carcks and is drie really fast

Hi, I love this tutorial and the idea <3

I have one question: I made something like rubber not clay - It's really hard to tear off piece of that mass and pieces won't join with other piece of it like it's only rubber - what I've done wrong? Can I fix it some way? I won't just discarded it...

Thanks! ^^

Somethings no one is mentioning:
Once this drys, it can NOT be reconstituted!  Keep it sealed, have it wetter than you need, and dry slowly.
It shrinks severely. Over 50% if you keep it wet enough to use.
Do NOT use baking soda!  Despite the recipes you may see, you will not like the results.

I'll definitely be trying this~ With the price of Sculpey going up, and how it never truly had a... soft consistancy, making home-made clay is a fantastic idea! Not to mention, you're not limited to buying and mixing colours to get just the right one, as you can make the colour yourself.
Honestly, this is fantastic- Thank you so much for posting this!
